10 Books to Grow Your Faith

These 10 Books have shaped my faith exponentially

I remember the first time I walked into a Christian bookstore. It was honestly one of the most bizarre places I had ever visited. The old lady at the front counter welcomed us in like a librarian looking at a motorcycle gang into her little safe haven.

She was pleasant and kind, but she was very leery of the four college boys who came in with this older surfer-looking dude. She asked what she could help us with and we answered that we were looking for some “Christian-living” books.

She guided us through the main aisle of nick-nacks and brought us to eight isles of “Christian-living” books. At this point, we began looking through book after book of names and topics I barely knew anything about.

Finally, I landed on the first book which would greatly impact my life and my faith. And today, I felt it would be important to share ten super useful and encouraging books altogether so you wouldn’t have to comb the shelves of your local book store.

This was the one I found in that Christian Bookstore. It was actually referred to me by my discipler at the time, but I hadn’t found it anywhere before that moment. Since that moment, I have read this book four or five times.

This is a daily reader which helped me unlock deeper meaning in my Bible reading. Carson shares some important insights into understanding the Bible and what the stories mean for us today.

This was one of the first commentary style books I was able to read which was in fairly plain English. It helped me understand the book of Romans, a book of the Bible I seem to always come back to, in new ways at a theological depth.
