I often heard that leg training in particular increases testosterone levels. To understand why this is the case, we first need to understand how exercise, in general, affects testosterone release and what factors influence how much testosterone is released.

The amount of testosterone released during and after training depends primarily on two factors: training intensity and the volume of muscle mass activated.

This explains why leg training is so good for testosterone release. The main reason for this is the large volume of the thigh muscles and the glutes, which are usually also loaded during leg training.

Leg training, therefore, leads to a very large volume of muscle mass being activated, which supports the release of testosterone.
