Recruiters and LinkedIn

Looking at and actively applying for the job is a different challenge. And, while we all do this, it is said that you should “Network, connect and ask for help” as much as you can.

Being among the crowd and applying for jobs, I aim to connect and network with at least ten people every day. I do check background and headlines on Linkedin before connecting or following.

But honestly, if it is a recruiter, I do not check the background and send a note to connect. Recently, a recruiter gave me two small, but relevant pieces of advice one should follow rather than hitting the Connect button in the first place.:

1. Check the profile: Know what positions they are hiring for, their current work, and their background.
2. Look for requirements: Read the About section and know the profile they specialize in hiring for and the requirements a candidate should fulfill for them to move forward.

I appreciate her being honest and giving me small but valuable bits of advice.

What are your views, advice, and suggestions?
