How Much Does a Vote Cost?

President Biden just announced a sweeping debt relief bill that could affect up to 43 million people. The bill gives up to $10,000 of student loan debt forgiveness to individuals making less than $125,000 or households making less than $250,000. It is estimated that close to 20 million people will have their debt completely forgiven. How much does a vote cost?

When you put this into context, in the 2016 presidential election, each candidate received 60–65 million votes. With this legislation, the president is giving a hand-out to one-third of those voters. He’s doing it while the job market is recovering, just months before the mid-term elections. How much does a vote cost?

Would you vote for someone for ten grand? Would that sway you? Who is paying that debt? It isn’t Joe Biden. He isn’t opening his wallet for this. You are paying for it. Your kids are paying for it. Your grand kids are paying for it.

Every time our leaders turn on the printing press and hand out money they don’t have, whether to their PAC sponsors or some college graduates, they are creating inflation. They are creating debt and building a deficit that will bankrupt your grandkids.

This isn’t generosity. This isn’t an advancement of equity. This is blatant vote buying. This is how cheaters bypass our laws. How much does a vote cost?
