Designing comm2me with Figma

I have been using Figma for over 2 years now. I never really enjoyed Sketch, all those plugins and problems after updating them, saving several versions and to work collaborative was a headache. So when a job in Berlin told me they were going to switch to figma, I was excited and really up for it.

I learned ‘how to’ use it creating the design system of that company. Components and responsive elements. It took me a couple of months, but I really enjoyed the process. It was so easy to work with it!
Luckily enough I also use Figma in my actual job (who doesn’t?), so when I had to work on comm2me the choice was obvious.

I did some wireframes and user journeys and share them. We still use this when we talk about this project.

I was ready to start playing with the design, a small library mainly with our colour palette and some font sizes, nothing fancy but being an MVP, efficiency is key.

Later I created a simple mockup, using figma too. When is complicated I might use other tools, but in this instance it was good enough. Is also faster, having every screen there, I just need to connect them, and done! Share!

When it was time for my husband to start coding, I just send him this file too. It was the first time he was working with figma, and I think it took me 15 minutes to explain the basics and how he can find the styles, code, colours, and how to see pixels between elements to be pixel perfect.

I also sent this file to our community manager, she can get content from here, she can directly export the files from there, and create the ones she needs with the right size from the artboard.

Figma saves every version under the same file, so there is no v1, v2, vfinal, vfinal5, etc. Just click on the name and I can easily go back to the day I created the file and see how much it changed since then. And it’s all in the cloud, I can access from every computer, anywhere!

This is not a paid ad, I don’t even have the paid version, I just think this is a great tool and I’m a big fan. Just happy that someone created this!
